Directions to use

  • One can eat 6 – 7jamun in the morning.
  • Alternatively you may also take one teaspoonful of jamun seeds powder along with a glass of  warm water daily.

Bitter gourd

Bitter gourd is known to be very effective home remedy for the type 1 diabetes. Phytochemical compounds –  charatin and momordicin which are present in bitter gourd are loaded with the  with blood sugar lowering properties.it also contains a biochemical compound, plant insulin-polypeptide-P which acts  like the insulin and helps to decrease the  sugar levels in the body.

Directions to use

  • Drink 50-60 ml bitter gourd juice on an empty stomach in morning.
  •  Alternatively you can include Bittergourd as a dish or curry at least once in a week.

Fenugreek

Fenugreek is also known as an effective home remedy for type 1 diabetes. It has the hypoglycemic activity which helps to improve glucose tolerance in body and also decreases the blood sugar levels. Moreover due to rich source of fibers, it helps to slows down the absorption of sugars and carbohydrates.

Directions to use

  • Soak one two tablespoons of fenugreek seeds in water overnight.
  • Drink this water along with the seeds on an empty stomach in the morning.
  • Do it regularly and you can see the noticeable change in blood sugar levels.
  • Another option is consume one- two tablespoons of fenugreek seeds powder with water or milk every day.

Flax seeds (Alsi)

Being rich in the fiber, flax seeds help in the absorption of sugar and fats from blood. So Consumption of flax seeds is a quite useful home remedy to lower the blood sugar levels in type 1 diabetes.

Directions to use

Consume one tablespoon of flaxseed powder with a glass of warm water or milk in every morning on an empty stomach.

Neem

Consumption of neem juice is also another effective home remedy to manage the type 1 diabetes. As neem helps to enhance the insulin receptor sensitivity which helps to decrease the blood sugar levels.

Aloe Vera

Aloe vera is quite beneficial to lower the fasting blood glucose levels. As it contains the phytosterols and its anti- hyperglycemic properties help to manage the high blood sugar levels.

  • Mix together one tablespoon of aloe vera gel, one-half teaspoon each of ground bay leaves and turmeric.

  • Consume amla juice two times in day.
  • Alternatively you can mix one tablespoon of Indian gooseberry juice in a cup of bitter gourd juice. Drink it every day for best results.

Lifestyle for Type 1 Diabetes

  • Include the high fiber foods in your diet like –

Fruits : cranberries, apples, blueberries, grapes, pear, plum, peach, watermelon and cherries are good in type 1 diabetes.

Vegetables : Asparagus, carrots, celery, cauliflower, eggplant, cucumber, corn, onions, peas, lettuce, peppers, bitter melon, turnip and chilies.

  • Do the exercise daily.
  • Do mediation, deep breathing because these thing help to overcome the stress. As the stress is also responsible to raise your blood sugar levels.
  • Sit for few minutes in sunlight as it helps in production of vitamin D which is important for insulin production.
  • Drink plenty of water throughout the day.

Things to be avoided

  • Avoid spicy and oily foods.
  • Take small meals 4-5 times in day instead of  eating in bulk.
  • Avoid unhealthy saturated fats
  • Avoid alcohol consumption
  • Avoid sugar

Flax seeds (Alsi beej)

Take one tablespoon of powdered flaxseed powder every morning with a glass of warm water. One should use it with caution as it is hot in potency so excess quantity should be avoided.

Cinnamon (dalchini)

Taking ½ teaspoon of cinnamon powder per day can improve one’s insulin sensitivity and also helps to lower blood glucose levels.

Bitter gourd (karela)

Bitter gourd has two very important compounds like charatin and momordicin, which are the important components in lowering one’s blood sugar levels.

One can have 50 ml of karela juice on an empty stomach at least four times in a week.

Neem

Neem increases insulin receptor sensitivity, helps improve blood circulation by dilating the blood vessels. One can take 5 to 10 ml juice of neem leaves in the morning.

Indian Blackberry(Jamun)

Take 1 teaspoon of jamun seeds powder with a glass of warm water and drink this daily for better control of diabetes as powdered jamun seeds slows down conversion of starch to glucose.

Indian gooseberry(Amla)

Take 20 ml juice of amla with equal quantity of water empty stomach in the morning. It stimulates pancreatic cells to produce insulin and keeps blood sugar under control.

Turmeric Powder(Haldi)

Mix ½ tsp Turmeric Powder + 1 tsp Amla Powder in one glass of water and take daily in the morning on empty stomach.

Bael leaves (Bilva patra)

Chewing 5-6 leaves of bael helps to control blood glucose levels. It controls problem of diabetic polyuria.

Fenugreek seeds (methi seeds)

Boil 1 tsp of methi seeds in one cup of water. This dark yellow colored herbal decoction is helpful to lower blood glucose levels if taken as a morning tea.

Holy Basil (Tulsi)

Consume three to four small tulsi leaves whole or about one teaspoon full of its juice on an empty stomach to lower the blood sugar levels.
