Abstract

Gonorrhea can be defined as a sexually transmitted infection induced by the bacteria named as “Neisseria gonorrhoeae”. With the passage of time, infection can spread to the whole bloodstream and various body parts. This infection can mainly affect one or more of the following body parts at initial stages

1. Cervix
2. Rectum
3. Throat
4. Urethra

The infection causing bacteria can also get entry into newborns during birth if their mother is suffering from untreated infection. The main body part affected in the babies due to untreated gonorrhea infection is their eyes.

If the treatment of infection is not taken at the right time, Gonorrhea infection may lead to a serious medical condition, Systemic gonococcal infection which is also known as disseminated gonococcal infection.

Symptoms of Gonococcal Infection and Systemic Gonococcal Infection

1. Pain during urination or burning sensation during urination
2. Increased vaginal discharge
