Abstract

The main focus of this article is on Dry eyes. This article includes the information such as epidemiology, symptoms, causes, risk factors, herbal remedies, dietary tips, and lifestyle changes. Dry eye disease is more common among women than men. The effect of eye syndrome increases with aging in each sex. It becomes common as more folks spend their time watching laptop screens. Optical device vision correction may be a common explanation for dry eye, usually for three to four months post-op. Those who have inherent dry eyes are vulnerable to have laser or optical device vision correction as their contact lenses are uncomfortable.

Introduction

The dry eye could be a disorder of the tear film that happens because of tear deficiency. It may also happen due to excessive tear evaporation. It causes harm to the interpalpebral ocular surface and is related to a range of symptoms reflective of ocular discomfort. (1) Dry eye syndrome additionally referred to as keratoconjunctivitis sicca (KCS), could be a common condition that is characterized by inflammation of the ocular surface and lacrimal glands. Dry eye symptoms could also be a manifestation of a general unwellness, thus timely detection might cause recognition of a critical condition. Also, patients with dry eyes are vulnerable to infections, like microorganisms keratitis (2) associated with an increased risk of complications following common procedures like optical device refractive surgery.

Dry Eye Syndrome

Knowledge of the pathophysiology of dry eye has recently been improved and therefore the condition is currently understood to be a complex disease, characterized by inflammation of the ocular surface and reduction in tear production. There are two types of eye syndrome. The first one is a deficiency of water component in the tears. It is so because the lacrimal gland present in our eyes may fail to produce enough water component to maintain a healthy tear. The second one is a problem related to the lipid layer. In this problem, the Meibomian gland fails to maintain the lipid layer and the oil surface of the tear behaves abnormally. This may unstable the tear firm and allows tears to evaporate easily.

Epidemiology

(3)According to the research, 17% of 2,127 patients visiting a hospital in Japan were diagnosed with dry eye, while 14.6% in an exceeding cluster of 2,520 older people reported symptoms of dry eyes. Dry eye syndrome will occur at any age. It is common among old people when the individual produces fewer tears. In addition to it, it is common in women than in men. Generally, it is found in places wherever deficiency disease ends up in a fat-soluble vitamin deficiency (Vitamin A).

Natural Treatment for Endometriosis with the Help of Yoga and Ayurvedic Herbs

Endometriosis is an inflammatory, painful and hormonal condition in which the endometrial tissue (which normally lines inside the uterus) starts growing outside the uterus.

Most commonly, the growth is on the outer surface of the uterus, fallopian tubes, ovaries, and in some cases, it can also spread inside the abdominal cavity.

This endometrial tissue which grows outside the uterus continues to shed blood in sync with the menstrual cycle. This shedding of blood causes much pain, irritation, and inflammation associated with endometriosis.

The outside growth of tissue over time leads to the formation of scar tissue which in turn results in organs like (intestines and urinary bladder) sticking together. This can cause severe pain during menstruation, cramping, chronic pelvic pain, constipation, bloating and pain during sex.

Ayurvedic Concept of Endometriosis

According to Ayurveda, Endometriosis is a Sannipatika condition involving all the three doshas, but primarily it is considered to be a Kapha problem due to overgrowth of tissues much like a tumor. Due to the involvement of blood and inflammatory conditions related to endometriosis, it is considered as a Pitta problem.

Vata is also involved causing much pain and displacement of endometrial cells from their original location to outside the uterus. It is mainly a condition of Vata pushing Pitta, pushing Kapha out of their natural place.

Therefore, the Sannipatika nature of the disease involves the three doshas. This condition of endometriosis is very well explained in our Ayurvedic  granthas like Charak Sanhita ( Chikitsa Sthan , Chapter 30 , Shloka no. 14,15 )
