Ayurvedic Aspect of Anxiety and Panic attacks

In Ayurveda, Anxiety is an imbalance of Vata dosha. During a panic attack, the Vata dosha impairment results in a sudden extreme stress response and agitated state of mind. Ayurvedic principle of diagnosing and treating a disease based on three doshas – Vata, Pitta and Kapha. The balanced state of these doshas signifies a healthy state whereas the imbalance of these doshas leads to a disease. When Vata dosha is  disturbed the person feels ungrounded, has trouble sleeping and has a hyper-excitable nervous system. Treatment of Anxiety and Panic attacks

In modern medicine, it is managed with some anti anxiety drugs, antidepressants drugs and with psychotherapy. But there is no permanent cure of this and the long term use of these medications can cause side effects too. In Ayurveda, this is an imbalance of Vata dosha so the line of treatment is to pacify the aggravated dosha. Ayurveda focuses on Nidan Parivarjana (avoid the causing factors) to manage the disease. In anxiety or panic attacks some Panchakarma procedures like Abhyanga, Shiro- abhyanga, Shiro vasti, Shirodhara, nasya with medicated oils are also recommended along with some Ayurvedic herbs like Ashwagandha, Jatamansi, Brahmi, Mandookparni, etc.

Natural Cure For Ergophobia

Have you ever Heard of Ergophobia

I’m sure most of the readers here are unacquainted with the term ergophobia. Though experienced by many, people usually ignore the sensitivity of the situation. Let’s begin by acknowledging the term ergophobia. Ergophobia is an unusual and tenacious fright of work. As surprising as the term sounds, it is exactly what it means.

ergophobia

How does one know if they are Ergophobic

People diagnosed with Ergophobia have experienced anxiety issues at work. They often encounter episodes of throbbing of the heart, a queasy feeling while at work or while working with bosses and co-workers. Feeling of chest constrictions, escalated perspiration, dizziness. Unable to prosper, establish their talent at work, they feel extremely irrelevant. A constant panic of not completing their work with utmost sincerity and conviction.

What Triggers Ergophobia

Most of the cases of Ergophobia have something to do with one’s past. A prior experience of humiliation, incompetence, failure to achieve deadlines are one among the reasons behind it. The phobia stems out of insecurities and indecisiveness.

How common is Ergophobia

It is natural for people at work places to encounter issues affecting their mental well-being if not every day, but days nonetheless. The thing which is unnatural and irrational at the same time is experiencing a high degree of anxiety, panic attacks, and complete loss of interest at work.

Speaking of which, it is equally natural for people to ignore these indications and slide it under the rug. But there are people who seek help and improve their situation. Talking about how common the phobia is, in a world where emotions and feelings mean the least and where each one of us is trying to fly higher, I’m sure most of us have had episodes of anxiety which may or may not lead to Ergophobia but it definitely messes with our mind.

Is Ergophobia Treatable

Any form of psychological distress can be treated irrespective of how serious the condition is. The same way, Ergophobia can be either self diagnosed or with the help of a professional.

Once diagnosed, the series of treatment can begin with the help of a psychologist. The treatment protocol may include group sessions, anxiety pills, desensitization therapy, and cognitive deportment therapy.

All an Ergophobic person needs is support to gain self reliance and self esteem.

Can Ayurveda help an Ergophobic?

The science of Ayurveda has left us speechless every single time it uproots an unconventional method of treatment. The logic behind the treatment protocol is accurate to such an extent that people willingly assert aid in Ayurvedic treatment.

The principles, combinations, and formulations of Ayurveda is a complete contrast to any other form of medicinal science. It would not be shocking to accept the fact that Ayurveda indeed can treat Ergophobia. Ayurveda originally has two sites(adhisthana) that are affected due to doshas- saririka(body) and manasika (mind).

Ayurveda treats diseases afflicting the body with much accuracy and determination. The exact same way Ayurveda treats all kinds of psychological distress afflicting the mind of a patient with much sensitivity and unerring preciseness.
